Bette
Midle于1945年出生在美国夏威夷。因为家境贫寒，在夏威夷大学读了一年戏剧被迫辍学后，她前往纽约发展。之后一直成功游走于流行乐、百老汇舞台剧、好莱坞电影，被誉为当代“喜剧皇后”，是当今硕果仅存的全能艺人之一。曾获四个格莱美奖、三个艾美奖、三个金球奖、两次奥斯卡提名和一个东尼奖。
1988年，Bette Midler出演电影《Beaches 》(《海滩》/《情比姊妹深》)，亲自演唱了片中所有歌曲，并凭借其主题歌 《Wind
Beneath My Wings》一举拿下了1989年格莱美的年度最佳唱片奖(Recorde of the Year )。
