1，would rather do sth than do sth  宁愿而不
e.g. He would rather die than surrender.他宁死不屈。

2, 同义词组有：
(1) would prefer to do sth. than do sth.
(2) would prefer doing sth. to doing sth.
e.g. He would prefer to die than surrender.
e.g. He would prefer dying to surrendering.
3, would rather\would sooner + that宾语从句 (过去式), 这个句子用的是虚拟语气，表达与现实相反的意愿。
e.g. I would rather that you were not here. 我宁愿你不在这儿。(暗示你在这儿)
e.g. I would rather that I didn't see you. 我宁愿没见到你。（暗示见到你了）
