6.正反观点题(正方,反方,己方)
1999 年6 月Directions: For this part, you are allowed thirty minutes to write
a composition on the
topic: Reading Selectively Or Extensively? You should write at least 100
words, and base your
composition on the outline (given in Chinese) below:
1. Some people think we should read selectively
2. Others think we should read extensively
3. My opinion
It is widely believed that we are supposed to read selectively, which means
that more often
than not, people choose some books to read. One reason they say is that
with the development of
the publishing industry, books in increasing numbers are printed and
eventually we cannot read
them all. The other reason they claim is that not all books are good for
us, and some of them
may contain lots of pornographic or violent descriptions.
While others argue that it would be a better choice to read as many books
as possible, that is,
we ought to read extensively. These people insist that only by reading a
variety of books can one
become a full/knowledgeable man. They also point out that we need to read
books of all kinds to
keep us well-informed and keep up with the latest development.
After careful consideration, I may safely come to the conclusion that we
should combine
these two reading methods together. For one thing, we need to choose some
classics to read. For
another, we have to read as much as we can. It is only by doing so that one
can become a man
who knows something of everything and everything of something. (203

December 27, 2003
Dear Xiao Ming,
When it comes to which major you should choose, I propose that you apply
for the
major/department of English. To begin with, English is the most popular
language in the world,
and it is widely used in as many fields as one can imagine. What’s more, it
goes without saying
that English majors are more likely to find a good job in this competitive
job market.
In order to study at English Department, you have to meet/suit the
following requirements.
In the first place, you are supposed to spend a lot of time on it, just as
the old saying goes,
“Practice makes perfect”. In the second place, the basic skills of reading,
writing, listening and
speaking are necessary, because they are the foundations for your future
study/career. Last but
not least, you need have an intense interest in learning English since
“interest is the best teacher.”
As far as the preparation work is concerned, you should first of all review
all the required
vocabulary. In addition, you’d better spend some time on reading and
writing. Only through
these measures/by doing so/in this way can you hope to enroll in our
university. I look forward
to seeing you next year. (200 words)
Yours sincerely,
Li Ming
8.记叙+说明
2003 年6 月Directions: For this part, you are allowed thirty minutes to write
an eye-witness
account of a traffic accident. You should write at least 120 words, and
based on the outline given
in Chinese below.
Suppose you saw a traffic accident, you need to write an eye-witness
account for the police office.
The essay should be based on the outline below:
1.Time and place of the traffic accident
2.The details of the accident
3.Reasons for the traffic accident
It was at 6:30 in the early morning that I saw this terrible traffic
accident. The tragedy just
happened near our school gate when I was on my way to the nearest Xinhua
Bookstore to buy a
Contemporary Longman English-English(不会写就可以不用写,删掉) Dictionary.
I heard a loud crash when I was walking on the sidewalk/pavement of the
street. I turned
round and I found this horrible accident. With glass broken into pieces on
the ground, two cars
were badly damaged and both of the drivers began to quarrel with each
other, and people in
growing numbers were gathering together here. Predictably, a traffic jam is
formed and policemen
are called and they came here immediately. And it took them about half an
hour to get the traffic
on the move again.
It is no difficulty for me to come up with the following reasons to account
for this
phenomenon. Firstly, both of them were driving too fast, and one of the
drivers was driving
under the influence of alcohol. Secondly, the rainy weather should also be
responsible for such a
horrible accident. (180 words) |
