　　1. 解词释义
　　Down to the wire的字面意思是“下来到电线上”，引申为“等到最后一刻才开始，最后关头”。对话中的“leaveit down to wire”是指“把某事放到接近最后期限才做，知道最后才做某事”。除此之外，down to the wire还可以表示经济上“濒于破产”“所剩无几”“手头很紧”。
