英国作家，诗人哈代以《苔丝》和《无名的裘德》闻名于世。他写过一首the last chrysanthemum，意境与《菊花台》歌词相仿。
第一段如下：
Why should this flower delay so long
To show its tremulous plumes?
Now is the time of plaintive robin-song,
When flowers are in their tombs.
大意是：为何在百鸟哀鸣，众花凋零的时候，这朵菊花傲然绽放，长久停留?与黄巢的“我花开尽百花杀”异曲同工。
中间还有一段写道：
Too late its beauty, lonely thing,
The season's shine is spent,
Nothing remains for it but shivering
In tempests turbulent.
“菊花太美太孤独，当四季光辉耗尽，徒留她在寒风中战栗。” 这一段里，哈代作品里的幽冥与宿命得以充分体现。这也是我喜欢哈代作品的理由。

妳 的淚光 柔弱中帶傷
Your eyes glisten,
tearful and in pain.
慘白的月彎彎 勾住過往
The moon wanes,
And a pale memory remains.
夜 太漫長 凝結成了霜
Cold nights are long enough
to turn into frosts, icy and rough.
是誰在閣樓上 冰冷的絕望
Who lingers on the stair,
In a chilled despair?
雨 輕輕彈 朱紅色的窗
Raindrops tap, slight and slow,
In vain on a crimson window.
我一生在紙上 被風吹亂
Already sealed are my ups and downs,
Scattered by the wind of bygones.
夢 在遠方 化成一縷香
into a wisp of smoke distant dreams melt
隨風飄散 妳的模樣
Only in the wind can your face be felt.
菊花殘 滿地傷 妳的笑容已泛黃
Fallen Chrysanthemums strew the ground;
As your saddened smile has turned brown.
花落人斷腸 我心事靜靜躺
Heart-ripping are the scattered flowers，
My bosom laid bare, thoughts in showers.
北風亂 夜未央 妳的影子剪不斷
North wind flutters;
Dawn is yet to come;
in my mind you linger on.
徒留我孤單在湖面 成雙
alone by the lake I am afraid to stare
my own shadow straining to feign a pair.
花 已向晚 飄落了燦爛
Chrysanthemums fade and cover the floor;
Its prime time is gone and no more.
凋謝的世道上 命運不堪
The world is going down;
And my fate comes to its doom.
愁 莫渡江 秋心拆兩半
never would I cross the autumn river
with many a woe,
怕妳上不了岸 一輩子搖晃
lest for the rest of our life
we would stay afloat.
誰 的江山 馬蹄聲狂亂
Amid maddening hoove-clatters
whose homeland is in dismay?
我一身的戎裝 呼嘯滄桑
In full armors,
the world is under my sway.
天 微微亮 妳輕聲的嘆
Morning breaks in a pale sky;
一夜惆悵 如此委婉
Is a sleepless grief all but a sigh? |
