本月22日，习近平将正式访美，并出席联合国成立70周年系列峰会。习近平任国家主席以来，出访多次，足迹已经遍各大洲，但此次却是他第一次正式访问美国。在习主席对美国进行国事访问之前，一起回顾下他曾经就中美新型大国关系做过的一些表述:
太平洋两岸有足够空间
宽广的太平洋两岸⑴有足够空间容纳中美两个大国。我们欢迎美国为本地区和平、稳定、繁荣⑵发挥建设性作用，同时希望美方充分尊重和⑶照顾亚太各国的重大利益与合理关切。
The vast Pacific Ocean has ample space for China and the United States. We
welcome a constructive role by the United States in promoting peace, stability
and prosperity in the region. We also hope that the United States will fully
respect and accommodate the major interests and legitimate concerns of
Asia-Pacific countries.

⑴“有足够的空间……”在这里直接运用词组have ample space for...,隐藏了“容纳”一词的翻译，想想为什么;
⑵“欢迎……发挥建设性作用”译文并没有用动词词组play a constructive role...;
⑶ “照顾各国利益”中“照顾”用了accommodate~~~
合则两利，斗则俱伤
作为世界上两个大国，中美拥有⑴广泛而重要的共同利益，⑵中美合则两利，斗则俱伤。
As two major countries in the world, China and the United States have
important interwoven interests. History shows that when we properly handle each
other's core and major interests, China-US relations will grow smoothly.
Otherwise, they will be in trouble.
【分析】
⑴“广泛而重要的共同利益”两个形容词共同修饰一个名词，没有用and连接;
⑵“中美合则两利，斗则俱伤”这句话没有直接翻译为“Cooperation generates a win-win outcome while
confrontation produces a lose-lose situation.”，而是在具体语境下进行了解释~所以翻译要看具体语境。
双方应有充分信心、
⑴持久恒心，始终抓住共同利益这一主线，⑵不要让这样那样的矛盾、分歧左右中美关系大局，要携手走出一条大国之间和谐相处、良性竞争、合作共赢的新型道路。
China and the US should have confidence in each other and stick to
cooperation on mutual interests. The two sides should work together on a new way
of harmonious coexistence, healthy competition and cooperative win-win, without
being disturbed by disputes or differences.

⑴持久恒心：stick
to...;“始终抓住……”省去动词翻译，两个半句用一个on连接，所以像介词连词等小词，如果能熟练运用，能使译文更简洁~
⑵分清主从句，搞清逻辑关系是翻译的第一步;work wogether——携手;“走出……道路”依然是省去动词翻译，用介词on连接;

中国梦要实现国家富强、民族复兴、人民幸福，是和平、发展、合作、共赢的梦，与包括美国梦在内的世界各国人民的美好梦想相通。
