Fed links interest rate to US job figures
The US Federal Reserve will keep interest rates at close to zerountil unemployment falls below 6.5 per cent in a historic changeto monetary policy.
美联储(Federal Reserve)将把利率维持在接近于零的水平，直到失业率降到6.5%以下，此举标志着美国货币政策发生了历史性变化。
It is the first time a large central bank has ever tied its interest rate policy directly to the state of theeconomy. The Fed said it would keep rates low as long as it does not forecast inflation above 2.5 per cent.
一家大型央行将利率政策直接与经济状况挂钩，这在历史上尚属首次。美联储表示，它将保持低利率，只要它预测的通胀率不高于2.5%。
The Fed also beefed up its third round of quantitative easing to $85bn a month – adding $45bn of Treasury purchases to its commitment to buy $40bn of mortgage-backed securities eachmonth – and said it would keep buying until there was a substantial improvement in the labormarket.

The changes mark an all-out effort to revive the stuttering economic recovery. They also signalthat the central bank remains concerned about the “fiscal cliff” of tax rises and spending cuts thatcould be triggered next month, and has taken little heart from improved data on the housingmarket.

The dollar came under renewed pressure and government bond prices eased after the newTreasury purchases were announced.
