CNOOC accepts new Canadian terms to win Nexen deal nod

Bloomberg reports China's state-owned CNOOC has accepted several conditions set by Canada towin approval for its 15 billion US dollar takeover of Nexen.
The Canadian government has requested guarantees including: at least 50 percent of Nexen'sboard and management positions should be held by Canadians.
A CNOOC spokeswoman in Beijing has declined to comment on the report but reiterated thecompany's pledge to retain all of Nexen's management team and employees.

8 penalized over street children's deaths

Eight people, ranging from school principals to government officials, have been penalized over thedeaths of five street children in a dumpster in Southwest China's Guizhou province.
The penalties include sackings and suspension of duty.
Reports say four of the five kids were drop-outs.
