Chinese VP meets U.S. Secretary of Defense
        　　Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping met with U.S. Secretary ofDefense Leon Panetta here on Wednesday morning.
        　　At the beginning of their meeting, Xi reviewed his visit to theUnited States in February and Panetta's meetings and talks withother Chinese leaders in Beijing on Tuesday.
        　　Xi, also a member of the Standing Committee of the PoliticalBureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, a member of the Secretariat ofthe CPC Central Committee, and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, said Panetta'svisit will help to further advance the relationship between the two militaries as well as the twonations.

        　　For his part, Panetta said he appreciates Xi's all-round support to encourage the military-to-militaryrelationship and that he has confidence in better dialogues and communication between the twocountries.
        　　Panetta arrived in Beijing on Monday evening, kicking off his first visit to China as Pentagon chief. China is the second leg of his week-long Asia-Pacific visit, which also brings him to Japan and NewZealand.

        　　在会见开始时，习近平简要回顾了今年２月他访美期间到访五角大楼以及帕内塔１８日在北京举行的一系列会谈、会晤的情况，预祝帕内塔此次访问取得成功，认为访问有助于继续推进中美两国、两军关系的发展。
        　　帕内塔说，在这里见到习近平深感荣幸，表示赞赏习近平在鼓励美中建立更好的两军关系上所给予的支持。他说，美中是两个伟大的太平洋国家，有信心改善彼此对话与沟通。
