A Letter Deelining an Invitation

Dear Xiaoliang ,
Thank you very much for your inviting me to attend your birthday party . To
be honest , I would like to accept your warm invitation . However , the current
situation doesn't allow me to do this .
I have to decline your invitation for the following reasons . On one hand ,
two weeks ago , I made an appointment with an old friend who will come to
Beijing next Sunday . On the other hand , his mother who will come to Beijing to
see a doctor asked me to accompany them . In view of these , I regret that I am
not able to accept your kind invitation .
I hope my absence does not influence your good mood . I do wish that you
would like the gift I have prepared for you . Meanwhile , I hope that you will
have a wonderful time that day .
