An investigation has begun into the death of a female elephant which
collapsed and died at theroadside while carrying tourists to an ancient
Cambodian temple.
柬埔寨一座古庙前，一头母象驮着游客时，忽而轰然倒地猝死路边。现已开始着手调查母象的死因。
Sambo the elephant collapsed of a fatal heart attack afterferrying two
tourists - one at a time - to a temple in the famous Angkor Wat complex.
大象名为扇贝，来回分批驼运两名游客后心脏病突发，猝死于著名的吴哥窟群建筑前。
She had been working for 40 minutes in scorching heat that had reached 40
degrees - and a veterinarian concluded that she had died of a heart attack ‘due
to high temperatures, heat exhaustion and lack of wind that would have helped to
cool her.’
扇贝在40度炙热高温下连续工作了40分钟，兽医说是“由于高温中暑、不通风无法降温而死于心脏病突发”。
Now animal lovers are demanding an investigation as to why the elephant,
aged between 40 and 45 years, was forced to continue carrying tourists when the
temperatures were so high and there was no wind.
动物爱好者要求调查为何大象年纪都40到45岁了，高温天那么热、又不通风，还要被逼迫驼游客。
Rambo had worked for the Angkor Elephant Company since 2001. But a number
of visitors who saw her lying dead at the roadside are reported to have
wept.
扇贝自2001年起服务于吴哥大象公司。据悉，很多游客目睹大象倒在路边都潸然泪下。
A petition calling for the end of elephant riding to the famous temples has
already gathered more than 10,000 signatures.Elephant Valley Project, designed
to protect Cambodia’s elephants, has called for regulated working
conditions.
一份要求不再骑着大象去逛庙宇的请愿书已经征集到了超过1万个签名。为保护柬埔寨大象而设计的“象谷工程“现已要求规范大象工作条件。
