food on offer looking mouth-wateringly ravishing.

up with this image?

stylists — combined with some photographic tricks.

        　　PROMISE: A pretty, delicately ridged white roll, with a tidy layer of
tomato slices, a basil leaf and the cheese gently melting over the edges.

        　　REALITY: What a mess! Squashed to within an inch of its life by the server

it up and it feels not like light, fluffy bread but like a doorstop.

rubbery and the poor bread looks like it’s been stamped upon.

bushy, bright green lettuce, glistening red tomatoes, shiny onions, crinkle-cut
gherkins, a juicy burger and neat little blobs of ketchup.

        　　REALITY: The burger is a meagre-looking shambles. The meat is surprisingly
thin and the whole thing is a squat affair. Delve about a bit and you’ll find
four onion rings, two tomato slices and two gherkins hiding in the gooey mess
inside — but dull-coloured and limp.
