英语词汇的奥秘：那些貌似副词的形容词(图)

　　在英语中，以-ly结尾的单词多数是副词，也就是说词尾-ly是副词的标志之一。但值得特别注意的是，有一部分以-ly结尾的单词却通常用作形容词，而还有另一部分的单词既可以用作形容词，也可以用作副词;常用的这类形容词主要分为以下几类：

        　　1. 某些“人”的名词结尾加上-ly构成的形容词。
        　　brotherly 亲弟兄似的(亦可用作副词)
        　　We should treat strangers with brotherly kindness.
        　　我们应该以兄弟般的友好对待陌生人。
        　　fatherly 父亲般的(亦可用作副词)
        　　Let me give you some fatherly advice.
        　　让我给你提供一些父亲般的忠告。
        　　friendly 友好的(亦可用作副词)
        　　We wish to establish friendly business relations with you.
        　　我们希望跟你建立友好的商业关系。
        　　gentlemanly 绅士的
        　　British motor racing used to be a gentlemanly affair.
        　　在英国,赛车曾经是一项绅士的消遣。
        　　kingly 国王的(亦可用作副词)
        　　Not all kings behave in a kingly way.
        　　并非所有国王都有王者风范。
        　　masterly 名家的(亦可用作副词)
        　　The young man gave a masterly performance of the violin concerto.
