渤海是中国唯一的内海、中国最北的近海，亦为中国最浅的半封闭性内海。
它三面环陆，被辽宁省、河北省、天津市、山东省陆地环抱，通过渤海海峡与黄海相通。
海域面积约77000平方千米，平均水深约18米，最大水深83米。渤海沿岸有辽东湾、海河、黄河等河流从陆上带来大量有机物质，使这里成为盛产对虾、蟹和黄花鱼的天然渔场。

渤海湾是中国渤海的一个浅水海湾，位于河北省、天津和山东省黄河口之间。流入海湾的主要河流有黄河、海河、蓟运河和滦河。
