  Eating plenty of oily fish helps us stay healthy longer, a new study
suggests.
          一项新的研究表明,多吃富含油脂的鱼类有助于我们更健康长寿。
          Omega 3 fatty acids in seafood stave off cancer, dementia and heart
disease, researchers say.
          研究人员称,海产品中的Omega - 3脂肪酸可以预防癌症、痴呆和心脏病。
          The findings, published in BMJ, come from analysis of blood and diet of
2,622 pensioners for up to 22 years.
          此研究对2622名退休人员长达22年的血液和饮食数据进行了分析,结果发表在《英国医学杂志》上。
          Those with most omega 3 fatty acid in their blood were 24 percent less
likely to suffer chronic diseases or mental or physical impairments than those
with the least.

          The substance is thought to help regulate blood pressure, heart rate and
inflammation.

          The NHS suggests eating two portions of fish a week, including one that is
oily, such as salmon.

          Researcher Dr. Heidi Lai said: “Focus on longevity alone is shifting toward
an emphasis on healthy aging.”

          She added: “With rapid aging of populations globally and an increased
prevalence of chronic disease, focus on longevity alone is shifting toward an
emphasis on healthy aging.”

          “In contrast with years of total life, healthy aging can be considered as
living a meaningful lifespan without chronic diseases and with intact physical
and mental function.”
