A proposed 25 percent tariff on consumer goods made outside this country
could hit the shoe industry hard — and shoppers’ wallets harder.

Consumers could see a $67 pair of China-sourced boots jump in price by $30
— or a pair of $160 Nike sneakers leap to $200 or more, according to the
Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America.
