A South Korean consumer group has filed a criminal complaint against Apple
CEO Tim Cook over slower iPhone devices, after probes in Europe into allegations
the firm had deliberately shortened the life of its handsets.
在欧洲国家对苹果公司故意缩短手机寿命的指控展开调查后，韩国一消费者团体已经就“iPhone降频门”对该公司首席执行官蒂姆.库克提起刑事诉讼。
Italy’s antitrust body said on Thursday it had opened a probe into
allegations that Apple and Samsung Electronics used software updates to slow
their mobile phones and push clients into buying new handsets.
意大利反垄断机构18日表示，已经对苹果公司和三星电子公司利用软件更新降低手机运行速度，并强迫用户购买新机的指控展开调查。
A French prosecutor has also launched a preliminary investigation into
Apple’s alleged deception and planned obsolescence of its products.
一名法国检察官也就苹果公司涉嫌欺骗及预谋报废其产品的指控进行了初步调查。
Following a public uproar, Tim Cook told ABC News Apple’s next iOS update
will be more transparent about the health of your phone battery. Users will also
be able to decide whether to reduce your phone’s performance to extend battery
life.
“iPhone降频门”引发舆论一片哗然，蒂姆.库克对ABC新闻台表示，下一次iOS系统更新时，将公开更多有关用户手机电池健康状况的信息。用户还将有权决定是否降低手机性能来延长电池寿命。
We’re going to give people the visibility of the health of their battery so
it’s very, very transparent. This hasn’t been done before, Cook said. "We will
tell somebody ’We’re slightly reducing your performance by some amount in order
to not have an unexpected restart.’ And if you don’t want it, you can turn it
off."
库克称：“我们将让用户看到他们的手机电池的健康状况，这是非常公开透明的，以前从没有这样做过。我们会明确告知用户‘适当降低手机运行速度是为了防止手机意外重启。’如果用户不想这样做，可以将这一功能关掉。”
Although users will be able to opt out, Cook said Apple doesn’t recommend
users do so. The performance of lithium-ion batteries worsens over time and this
can lead to phones turning off abruptly to protect their components.
尽管用户可以选择关闭降频功能，但库克称，他们并不建议用户这么做。因为随着时间的推移，锂电池的性能会下降，导致手机突然关闭以保护其他部件。
