jump/leap out of one's skin的本义是“大吃一惊”，这里的翻译很讲究意译了。
The loud noise made me jump out of my skin.巨大的声响吓了我一大跳。

make it是常见搭配，意思是成功，达到预定目标。make it big就表达“功成名就，飞黄腾达”。
