　　If you covered your blemishes, swiped on some mascara or dabbed on some
blush this morning, you probably didn’t realise you would be accused of
aesthetic espionage.

        　　But according to the majority of men, you’re a grade A, male-gaze con
artist.

        　　According to a new survey from YouGov, 63 per cent of men believe that the
main reason women wear makeup is to trick people into thinking they’re more
attractive than they really are.

        　　Surprisingly though, the data revealed that 47 per cent of women share the
same view.

        　　While 53 per cent said that women are held to unrealistic beauty standards
by the media.

        　　Men however were less convinced with only 30 per cent strongly agreeing
that the media presents women with an impossible benchmark.
