        Fire Accidents in Cities
        　　Recent years have witnessed a marked growth of fire accidents in cities. We
often see flashing fire engines rushing through the streets. Fires have not only
caused heavy econornic losses but also injured and killed many people.
        　　近年来，城市火灾显著增多。我们常常可以看到警灯闪烁的消防车从街头呼啸而过。火灾不仅造成重大的经济损失，而且也造成很多的人员伤亡。
        　　What are the causes of fire accidents? Most of the fires are caused by
carelessness and violation of fire safety regulations. Other fires are caused by
home electrical appliances, because they are of poor quality or because people
do not know how to use them properly. Besides, some businesses have focused so
much of their atlention on profits that they often ignore fire precautions.
        　　火灾事故的原因是什么呢?大部分火灾是由于疏忽和违反消防安全规定而引起的。其他火灾是由家用电器引起的，由于家电的质量较差，或因为人们不知道如何正确地使用它们而引发火灾。此外，一些企业过分注重利润，他们往往忽略防火措施。
        　　To prevent fires and reduce iamages from fire accidents, we should educate
people to raise their sense of fire prevention, warn children of the dangers of
playing with matches, and instruct workers to be more careful with insulation.
In addition, we should improve existing fire engines and add more fire
facilities to high buildings. Thus, the fire prevention system will become more
reliable. (164 words)
        　　为了预防火灾和减少火灾事故的破坏，我们应当教育人们提高防火意识，警告儿童玩火柴的危险，并指示工人要更加小心地使用绝缘材料。此外，我们应改善现有的消防车，并给高层建筑添加更多的消防设施。因此，防火系统将变得更加可靠。
