We start with the news that the IAAF has suspended 28 track and field athletes after retesting their samples that were taken at the World Championships in 2005 and 2007. The IAAF, which has been criticised after leaked blood test data was obtained by the Sunday Times newspaper in the UK and the German broadcaster ARD/WDR, says none of the athletes concerned will be competing at this year's World Championships in Beijing taken underway on the 22nd of August. The BBC's Eddie at Ardoyne has more.
"Well, the IAAF say they can't name any of these athletes at the moment for legal reasons, because it's still only a provisional suspension until the matter has been fully resolved. But I have been informed that the vast majority are from Russia, but Belarus Turkey and Ukrainian athletes are also amongst them. The IAAF say they plan to publish the names as soon as they can legally do so. So we're expecting that in the next week or so. And they say that the majority of the athletes are retired and only a few of them are still active and none will be at this month's World Championships in Beijing, which gets underway next week."
