　　又到了一年的尾声，各大商家的年末促销大战也渐次拉开序幕，如火如荼地开展了起来。据商家估计，与去年同期相比，今年年末的促销价格战血拼场面将更加激烈。

        　　文中的year-end promotion就是指“年末促销”，就是商家在年底进行的sales campaign(促销活动)。在年底涌起的spending spree(消费热潮)中，由于pure gold(纯金)的价格上涨，钟爱gold jewelry(黄金珠宝)的消费者掀起了一股gold rush(淘金热)。为应对inflation expectation(通胀预期)，人们对limited edition gold bars(限量版金条)的购买热情也空前高涨。
