　　近日全球管理咨询公司麦肯锡的一份报告指出，如果中国不采取有效的节水技术和措施，中国在未来二十年将面临严重缺水问题。

        　　尤茂庭(麦肯锡北京合伙人、该研究项目的负责人)表示，火电、纺织、造纸及钢铁等耗水产业在节水方面可努力的空间最大。
        　　在上面的报道中，water-intensive industrial sectors的意思是“耗水产业部门”，这些部门都属于water-intensive industry(耗水产业)。Intensive在这里的意思是“集中的，密集的”，例如我们所熟悉的labor-intensive industry(劳动密集型产业)、capital-intensive industry(资本密集型产业)，还有technology-intensive industry(技术密集型产业)。Intensive还可以表示“集约经营的”，例如：intensive farming(集约农业)。
        　　由于水资源分布不平衡，中国部分地区存在water deficit 或water shortage(缺水)，在某些时候还会出现water scarcity(水荒)，因此加强water conversation(节水)工作十分必要。除了可以采用water-saving technologies(节水技术)或water efficient technologies(高效用水技术)外，还可以build more sophisticated irrigation systems(更精密的灌溉系统)和reuse industrial water(实现工业用水再利用)等。
