　　继2003年中国古琴、昆曲被列入第一批"人类口头和非物质文化遗产"项目之后，2005年新疆木卡姆艺术以及蒙古族长调又双双被联合国教科文组织宣布为第三批"人类口头和非物质遗产代表作"。一时间，"非物质文化遗产"概念开始进入公众的视野，许多珍贵的民间传统文化也相继"浮出水面"。经过半年多的紧张筹备，中国"非物质文化遗产"保护成果展于2006年2月12日在中国国家博物馆隆重开幕。
