　　据统计，2000年我国养老金“空账”达360多亿元，而到了2005年底，“空账”已达8000亿元。为填补养老金“空账”，“提高法定退休年龄”被认为是解决“空账”的一大对策。据悉，今年年底，劳动和社会保障部有望推出有关延迟退休的报告。

　　报道中的“mandatory retirement age”指的是“法定退休年龄”，在一定语境下，“法定退休年龄”也可用“legal retirement age”来表达。不过，严格来讲，二者还是有细微的区别：“mandatory retirement age”意思是“到了某一年龄，(你)必须得退休”;“legal retirement age”指的是“到了某一年龄，(你)可以退休，但也可以根据个人情况继续工作”。
　　此外，公司合同上所“规定的退休年龄”常用“compulsory retirement age”来形容，而“实际退休年龄”则为“effective retirement age”。
