　　这是世界首例面部移植手术，国内媒体更乐于称之为“换脸”术。2005年，一名法国女子面部被狗严重咬伤，后被医生“嫁接”了另一名脑死亡者的鼻子、嘴唇和下巴。时隔一年，临床结果显示，“换脸”手术效果极佳，患者的面部知觉日趋敏感，面部灵活性也日益增强。

　　报道中的“face transplant”就是我们所说的“换脸术”，医学上常称之为“面部移植术”。这位法国患者因仅被移植了“鼻子、嘴唇和下巴”，所以，更确切一点，这种手术应被叫做“partial facial transplant”(局部面部移植)，与其相对应的为“full facial transplant”(完整面部移植)。
　　医学上，transplant(移植)常指“将组织或器官从一身体或身体部位移到另一个身体或身体部位”，如heart transplant(心脏移植手术)、 surgical transplant of a cornea(眼角膜外科移植术)。
　　此外，“移植”还可用“graft”来表示，如：The 38-year-old woman had a nose, lips and chin grafted onto her face from a brain-dead donor.(这为38岁妇女接受了换脸手术，医生把一名脑死亡捐赠者的鼻子、嘴唇和下巴移植给了她。)
