英语的新词全球肥胖

　　平时每到吃饭的时候，身边就有人嚷着说“减肥，不吃饭”，不管那个人是真胖还是假装减肥。不过，有一个事实倒是千真万确，那就是全世界肥胖人口这几年都有所增加，而且据说在发展中国家尤为明显。这个问题也引起了世界卫生组织的关注，他们还专门为这个问题取了个名字，叫globesity。

One-third of these people are believed to live in the developing world. In 1996, WHO set up a global database on obesity and body mass index, the common measure of fatness.         　　根据世界卫生组织的数据显示，自1995年以来，全球成年人肥胖人数已增长了50％，截至2000年已达3亿。这其中有三分之一都生活在发展中国家。1996年，世界卫生组织建立了一个肥胖和身体质量指数数据库，身体质量指数是衡量肥胖的通行标准。世界卫生组织称肥胖是“如今最显而易见而又最被忽视的公共健康问题之一”，并且将这个全球性的病症称为“全球肥胖”（globesity，global和obesity的合成词形式）。
