12月2日，美国总统布什宣布提名内布拉斯加州州长迈克·约翰斯担任农业部长，接替已经辞职的美国历史上首位女性农业部长维尼曼女士。据悉，布什已经选定前纽约警察局长、现年49岁的科里克接替里奇出任国土安全部长，这一提名还需得到参议院批准。
