Intercept
Intercept means to block, to cut off or to interrupt. What is being intercepted? What is intercepting? Where and why?

4) calculating the intercept on a graph to determine the equilibrium value

As he set his course towards the food, he was intercepted by staff offering him samples of the cologne, which he courteously accepted; by servers offering him drinks, which he politely declined; and by guests who mistook him for somebody else, to whom Sean smiled and shook his head. Despite the obstacles, a brilliant smile lit up his face when he got close enough to marvel at the shimmery centerpiece – a grand dark chocolate fountain with three tiers. From the plate on the side, he picked up a skewer with a beautifully cut strawberry, and glided it through the waterfall of warm chocolate.
