Other celebrities such as actor Jet Li and actress Zhao Wei were also guests of Wang according to photos he has shown. Even top officials including Liu Zhijun, the dismissed minister of railway visited Wang and former health minister Chen Minzhang was shown receiving treatment by Wang.
People expressed shock that so many well-educated and successful elites are easily fooled by an alleged charlatan like Wang.

Superstition is always a key word in Chinese culture that has been discussed countless times in the public. And there are various superstitions in our daily life. As far as I am concerned, most of them are connected with fortune, another important key word in Chinese culture.
Personally, those absurd phenomena mirror elites’ general feelings of lacking a sense of safety from financial aspect to political aspect. They are deeply aware of many potential risks that cannot be controlled by them may jeopardise their fortune and power. Without any efficient solution, they have no choice but to consult with those masters in the hope of bringing extra fortune to bless them. Hence, I would prefer to look on those phenomena as a sort of ‘self-consolation’ rather than ‘blind superstition’.
