Prince William’s lawyers will strike back with “all proportionate responses” against an Italian gossip magazine that plans to publish topless photos of his wife, Kate.
Italian scandal sheet Chi, owned by former Premier Silvio Berlusconi, said it intends to print the sexy images of the Duchess of Cambridge frolicking at a private estate in southern France last month, despite legal action being taken against a French magazine that published the images first. A royal spokeswoman vowed to go nuclear if Chi publishes the blurry photos, insisting that their publication would “cause further entirely unjustifiable upset to the Duke and Duchess.”

On Saturday, a day after the saucy pics appeared in the Closer magazine, an Irish tabloid ran 13 pictures of the topless duchess. Irish Daily Star editor defended the decision, telling the BBC the photos are “very, very tasteful.” But the paper’s owner, Richard Desmond, reacted angrily to the photo spread and signaled that he may even shutter the paper.
Chi plans to print a splashy, 26-page spread with the photos on Monday. Italian newspapers and television shows revealed the magazine’s cheeky cover Saturday, featuring three pictures of the topless princess under the headline “The Queen is Nude!”
