　　“Control” can be either a noun or a verb. It is commonly misused in both
instances.
        　　“control”(控制，管理，限制)既可作为动词使用，也可作为名词使用。但这两种用法都容易用错。
        　　“Control” as a noun
        　　“control”作为名词
        　　WRONG
        　　错误用法：
        　　As the Branch is an organisational part of the Company, the public
authorities may ask for these documents in the case of a control.
        　　因为子公司是母公司机构组织的一部分，所以，为了控制子公司，政府机构可以要求查看这些文件。
        　　RIGHT
        　　正确用法：
        　　As the Branch is an organisational part of the Company, the public
authorities may ask for these documents in the case of an inspection.
        　　因为子公司是母公司机构组织的一部分，所以，为了监控子公司，政府机构可以要求查看这些文件。
        　　WRONG
        　　错误用法：
        　　A control of the account books may be conducted at the employer’s
request.
        　　如果经理要求，就可以对账簿进行控制。
        　　RIGHT
        　　正确用法：
        　　An audit of the account books may be conducted at the employer’s
request.
        　　如果经理要求，就可以对账簿进行审查。
        　　Alternatives to “control”: audit, check, inspection, verification
        　　“control”替代词：audit(审查)，check(检查，核对)，inspection(检验)，verification(核实)。

notice.
        　　政府机构不用做出任何通知，可以直接监管货仓。
        　　WRONG
        　　错误用法：
        　　The President is obliged to control the correctness of the Tender
proceedings before the conclusion of a contract.
        　　在签订合同之前，董事长有义务控制招标过程的正常进行。
        　　RIGHT
        　　正确用法：
        　　The President is obliged to verify the correctness of the Tender
proceedings before the conclusion of a contract.

        　　As an uncountable noun:
        　　作为不可数名词：
        　　“Control” has a meaning similar to “power”

        　　Putin seems unwilling to relinquish political control.
        　　普金似乎不愿让出政治控制权。
        　　Unfortunately the matter is no longer under our control.

        　　Passport control – where your ID is checked at an airport.
        　　Passport control(入境护照检查) - 机场对于身份的检查。
        　　Pest control – the activity of getting rid of an unwanted nuisance.
        　　Pest control (害虫防治) - 清除那些讨厌的人或事情的行为。
        　　E.g., if you want to get rid of rats in your basement you contact the local
pest control or rodent control.
        　　例如：如果你想解决掉地下室的老鼠，你需要联系当地的害虫防治部门或鼠害防治部门。
        　　As a countable noun:
        　　作为可数名词使用：
        　　The word commonly refers to the switches, peddles and levers of a car,
aircraft, tank etc

        　　The captain sat down at the controls and switched off the autopilot.
        　　机长坐在控制台前，关闭了自动导航。
        　　“Controls” can be methods of regulation
        　　“control”可以表示调控措施。
        　　The government has announced its intention to institute wage and price
controls.
        　　政府有意调节工资和价格。
        　　As a verb:
        　　作为动词使用：
        　　To command, dominate, direct or restrain
        　　指挥、掌管、控制或支配。
        　　He controlled the children like an experienced teacher.
        　　他想一个有经验的老师一样指挥着孩子们。
        　　Despite what had happened she managed to control her emotions.
        　　无论发生什么事情，她都努力控制自己的情绪。
        　　To test or verify in a scientific experiment (to use a standard of
comparison)
        　　测试或检测科学实验(采用对比的方法)。
        　　The experiment was controlled by the random allocation of the treatment
among the patients.
        　　该项实验是通过对于病人治疗方式的随机分配来控制变量的。
        　　Remember – the verb “to control” does NOT mean check, inspect, monitor or
verify.
        　　记住：动词to control 不等于check(检查)，inspection(检验)monitor(监控)或verify (核实)。
