    1997年，乐队成立于英国德文郡的特恩毛斯。99年末出版了自己的首张专辑《Showbiz》。据说，乐队在制作这张专辑的时候并没有考虑关于签约公司的事情，所以这张专辑应当是乐队最自我的一张，因为它是在毫无压力的情况下完成的。《Showbiz》问世后，欧美的评论界都将这张唱片形容为“缪斯”带来的《OK Computer》（Radiohead在97年发表的惊世之作，并被某杂志评为上世纪最伟大的摇滚唱片）。这张唱片和《OK Computer》确实有这很多相象的地方，但并非是某个旋律或是某句歌词，而是他们的风格。事实上，自从Radiohead发表《OK Computer》之后的两年间，主流市场上一直没有一张类似风格的专辑出现，全是一些英伦软式吉他流行曲，就在这个时候《Showbiz》来了，并且得到了最广大歌迷的响应。乐队凭借着第一张专辑就轻而易举的征服了大英帝国，更不容易的是，他们也同时受到了美利坚合众国的热烈欢迎。要知道，一个英国乐队要能让刁钻的美国人看上眼，那简直如同中国队进入世界杯一样充满了奇迹色彩。(文/gothichead)
