    2005年，四个来自dundee的青年（平均年龄18岁）组成了一支乐队，他们的前身是以前在学校时组的翻唱乐队，时常表演包括从Squeeze到Sex Pistols的各类曲目。大概一年后，乐队决心不再仅仅是在Dundee的酒吧里翻唱别人的作品，而是要由自己来创作歌曲。于是，他们开始在一间叫Bayview的酒吧的后屋里创作和排练（这就是乐队名称The View的来源）。可是不久他们就被酒吧老板赶了出来，吉他手peter回想说："我也记不清到底是为什么了，但我想也许是和kyle绕着酒吧骑机车的行为有关。"然后，他们只好跑到附近的一个演出场所Doghouse里过上了"苦行僧般"的卖艺谋生的生活，与此同时，他们写的歌也在逐步成型。
　　随着演出逐渐增多，他们很快凭借不加修饰的随意风格横扫所有其后的乐队演出，并且正在一步步引起高度重视。他们开始拥有第一批专属自己的狂热忠实歌迷。在创作完成了足以制作整张专辑的歌曲后，没花多长时间乐队就已在城市的周边建立起固定的歌迷群。而且，仅仅是在他们举行第二场正式演唱会后，当地的一个独立小厂牌Two Thumbs就宣告有意帮乐队发行首张EP。
　　巧合的是，当年Dundee恰好迎来了了第一次大型音乐节，The View也被列在了表演乐队名单上！而且不仅仅是这样，现场观众的反应更是为之疯狂。"就好像是上天有意安排，"peter说，"我们之前读过关于The Libertines的书，也幻想着我们自己可以被James Endeacott签下来，几个星期后他真的打电话来问我们是否有意签唱片合同，实在是太不可思议了。" 随后乐队与James新创设的独立厂牌1965 Records签约，紧接着就是与传奇制作人Owen Morris合作录制首张专辑（Owen曾为Oasis和The Verve担当制作人）。
　　乐队首张专辑"Hats off to the Buskers"于2007年1月22日和5月10日分别在英国和美国先后发行。此前The View在英国每发一张单曲都会引起不小的轰动，先是独立音乐杂志NME强力推荐，而后又受到the libertines的前任主唱pete的赏识，还被邀请担当11月份babyshambles的巡演嘉宾。在2007年间The View还不断被提名英国的各大音乐奖项，首先是NME音乐奖最佳新晋乐队提名以及Wasted Little DJ's的最佳单曲提名，接着是Hats off to the Buskers在英国享有很高声望的水星奖的年度专辑提名，还有Q杂志最佳新演出的提名，以及首届XFM音乐奖的最佳专辑提名。
