        《逃离德黑兰》根据一篇为名“中情局如何依靠一部假冒的电影将美国人带离德黑兰”的杂志文章改编而成，片名“Argo”来源于年伊朗人质危机时期的一个典故。1979年，美国驻伊朗大使馆被刚刚取得伊斯兰革命胜利的伊朗人民团团包围，66名美国外交官和平民被扣留为人质长达444天。期间，一位精通伪装技巧的的中情局特工托尼·门德兹（Tony Mendez）策划了一个营救方案，成功地将困在加拿大驻伊朗使馆的6名美国外交官带离伊朗。在营救过程中，门德兹自己伪装成一个电影制片人，6名外交官则谎称是和门德兹一起的剧组工作人员，他们正在拍摄的电影叫“Argo”。时至今日，很多人都认为伊朗人质危机导致了时任美国总统吉米·卡特竞选连任失败。
        Argo is an upcoming American political drama film about the rescue of six U.S. diplomats from Tehran, Iran during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis. Filming began in September 2011, and it is scheduled to be released in 2012.
        During the 1979 Iran hostage crisis, the governments of the United States and Canada partnered to rescue six U.S. foreign service members who had evaded the hostage-taking at the takeover of the American embassy in Iran. The governments were able to convince Iran that the six hostages were members of a film crew who were scouting the area for a movie titled Argo. The hostages were able to escape the country under their fake identities.
