【剧情简介】
男人们玩扑克牌，三个女人也想加入，男人们犹豫着答应了。女人们初学乍练输掉第一局，想再玩一次。
Chandler:(teaching) OK, so now we draw cards.
Monica:So I wouldn't need any, right? Cause I have a straight.
Rachel:Oh, good for you!
Phoebe: Congratulations!
(Microwave timer goes off. Monica gets up.)
Chandler:OK Phoebs, how many do you want?
Phoebe:OK, I just need two... the, um, ten of spades and the six of clubs.
Ross:No. No, uh, Phoebs? You can't—you can't do...
Rachel: Oh wait, I have the ten of spades! Here! (gives it to Phoebe)
Ross:No, no. Uh... no, see, uh, you-you can't do that.
Rachel:Oh, no-no-no-no-no-no, that's OK, I don't need them. I'm going for fours.
Ross:Oh, you're... (gives up)
(Monica comes back to the table with plates of food.)
Monica:Alright, here we go. We've got salmon roulettes and assorted crudites.
Phoebe and Rachel:OOooooo!
Joey: Whoa, whoa, whoa, Monica, what're you doin'? This is a poker game. You can't serve food with more than one syllable. It's gotta be like chips, or dip, or pretz...(look of realization)
Chandler:(changing subject) OK, so at this point, the dealer...
Monica:Alright, you know, we got it, we got it. Let's play for real. High stakes... big bucks...
Ross: Alright, now, you sure? Phoebe just threw away two jacks because they didn't look happy...
Phoebe: But... I'm ready, so, just deal.
Chandler:OK, alright, last minute lesson, last minute lesson. (holds up two cards) Joey... three... eight. Eight... three. (Joey is unamused) Alright babe, deal the cards.
(Time lapse.)
Monica: (throws down her cards) Dammit, dammit, dammit!
Phoebe: (to Joey): Oh I see, so then, you were lying.
Joey:About what?
Phoebe:About how good your cards were.
Joey:Heh... I was bluffing.
Phoebe:A-ha! And... what is bluffing? Is it not another word for... lying?
Rachel:OK, sorry to break up this party, but I've got resumes to fax before work tomorrow... (gets up to leave)
Guys:Whoa, whoa, whoa!
Chandler:Rach, Rach, we gotta settle.
Rachel:Settle what?
Chandler:The... Jamestown colony of Virginia. You see, King George is giving us the land, so...
Ross:The game, Rachel, the game. You owe us money for the game.
Rachel:Oh. Right.
Joey:You know what, you guys? It's their first time, why don't we just forget about the money, alright?
Monica:Hell no, we'll pay!
Phoebe:OK, Monica? I had another answer all ready.
Monica:And you know what? We want a rematch.
Ross: Well that's fine with me. Could use the money.
Rachel:(to Ross): So basically, you get your ya-yas by taking money from all of your friends.
Ross:(pause)...Yeah.
Chandler:Yes, and I get my ya-yas from Ikea. You have to put them together yourself, but they cost a little less.
Ross:Look, Rachel, this is poker. I play to win, alright? In order for me to win, other people have to lose. So if you're gonna play poker with me, don't expect me to be a 'nice guy,' OK? Cause once those cards are dealt... (claps hands three times)
Joey:(pause)...Yeah?
Ross: I'm not a nice guy.

shuffle：本意是指调换顺序，这里调换牌的顺序，也就是“洗牌”。
cut：切牌。作弊的时候常用一招“假切牌”，看起来好像切了，实际上没有改过牌的位置。这在英语中称为“False Cut”，和假牙的“假”用的是同一个False。
Deal：发牌。Deal sb. Out原来是指发牌的时候跳过某人，引申为“排挤在外”的意思。另外，很多人在谈判最后打成共识，要喊“成交”的时候也是叫“Deal”。这里的Deal同样是从发牌的意思过来的。牌局开始之前玩家要讨论规则和赌注，一切商定之后就“deal”，发牌了…
Draw：摸牌。Touch这个“摸”更多是强调“接触一下”，而摸牌的这个“摸”具有粘滞性，是“摸进”的意思，英语中说成“Draw”。大家应该都记得，“抽屉”的英文是drawer，其中draw就是“抽，拉”的意思。“摸进”牌和“拉”抽屉一样，都是把物体向自己的方向牵动。
Sort：整理，理牌。
Play：打出。Play …card就是“打出…牌”。比如，play a strategy card，打出一张锦囊牌…这个词组还可以引申为“使用…招数”的意思。小孩子吵架的时候，最看不起的就是有人“Play the parent card”，打不过别人回去搬家长出来当救兵…
discard：弃牌。Dis-这个前缀表示否定，dis-card，否掉一张牌，就是丢弃不要的意思…
full house，flush同花，straight顺子
flush的意思是“同花”，或者说是麻将里的“清一色”。扑克牌中五张花色相同、大小没有规律的牌的组合就是Flush，Flush的大小看其中最大的一张牌。比如Ace-high Flush就是Ace最大的同花组合。中文里好像称为“垃圾”，因为这种组合没有任何顺序。Flush本身的意思就是“冲水”，用完厕所后必做的工作。“垃圾”对“冲掉”，还是很匹配的。
straight最基本的解释是“连续的”。比如straight wins 就是“连胜”。扑克牌中大小连续的牌，就是顺子。把两个词连起来，得到同花顺，就是straigh flush…
full house前文已经提到过，指3个跟一对的牌型。一行三，就是threes full
三个一样的：three of a kind，也可以叫set或者trip。
一对：pair
零牌：unmatched cards
“炸弹”怎么说？英语中只是把炸弹称为“四张一样的牌”，Four of a kind. 4炸弹，就是Four of fours…，也有地方叫成quads。
扑克牌中大小一样叫of the same rank, 花色一样叫of the same suit, 都一样叫做…same
炸弹有时可以单挂一张废牌，这个废牌叫做kicker，或者side card。
trump 王花色牌。桥牌和八十分里面都要在四个花色里面指定一个花色为Trump(王)，比其他花色都大。如果这一圈出草花，一名玩家草花牌已经绝掉(Void)，就可以用一张王牌进行阻截。特别强调，王trump和王牌(Ace)是不一样的。Ace就是指A，只有一张，一支队伍的王牌一般也只有一个。Trump这个王是指一个花色，有13张之多。trump这个词还可以做动词用，表示defeat，胜过，打败。例如：To boys, a hot date trumps buddies. 对于男生来说，热辣的约会对象比兄弟重要…Love trumps all. 爱可以战胜一切。
摸牌阶段，玩家可以bid(叫牌)决定这一轮王的花色。如果玩家手上方块牌多，就可以扔出一张方块2，bid方块为王。对手可以用两张别的花色的2，比如一对草花2，来overbid(造反)，改定草花为王。做庄的人叫做trumpmaker，底牌叫做kitty。
Joker怪。这个词本身是“小丑”的意思。扑克牌中是最大的鬼牌。扑克牌本身是欧洲人的作品，只有这两张牌是美国人的贡献。大怪叫Red Joker，小怪叫Black Joker。有些游戏中规定鬼牌是“百搭”，可以当作任意牌打出，这在英语中称为“wild card”。
hit/miss，摸到想摸的牌，凑成自己想做的牌，比如一副炸弹，叫hit。如果摸到一张废牌，就是miss
trick一圈，出一轮牌叫一个trick。
Void绝牌，没有(一门花色)。
house rules扑克牌的规则在各个地方都有差别，玩家常常会在玩牌前先确定规则。某一个俱乐部或某一组牌友打牌时的特定规则称为house rules
card counting算牌
cheating作弊。作弊高手叫cardshark，=中文的老千。
