        Roman: We know. we heard you watching "Gilmore Girls" all night, again.
        Blair: Oh. I am so a better fit for Yale than that Rory.
        perk up: to make someone more active and interested.
        wink: 眨眼. I couldn’t sleep a wink. / I can’t get a wink of sleep. 我一点也睡不着
        Rory: Gilmore Girl里的人物，她上的大学就是Yale. 另外注意一下I’m so a better fit for…than…(我比…跟适合…)这样的用法。

        shoo-in: 1. A sure winner. 2. One that has a sure chance of being chosen, as for a job or other position.
        cinch: sure thing; a certainty.

        Dan: You don't have to worry either. Blair's a lock. The dean told her as much, right?
        lock: absolute certainty about a situation. 和上面的shoo-in, cinch一样，都表示“稳操胜券”的意思。

        Dan: Look, getting into Yale will change our lives. It'll give us a chance to reinvent ourselves.
        Serena: Yeah, yeah, and in the meantime, at least our parents are keeping it on the down low.
        keeping it on the down low: to keep something very secret; not tell another person. e.g. Alright, I'll tell you but keep it on the down low...

        Lily: Well, now that this is all out in the open, maybe we can stop sneaking around. I mean, we've had the awkward run-in and it isn't so bad. I don't know why we thought this would be so weird.
        Dan: Let's leave now.
        Serena: Nice try, mom.
        Rufus: Yeah, seriously, good effort.
        out in the open: 事情已经公开了
        sneak around: 偷偷摸摸，sneak in与sneak out一个是溜进来，一个是溜出去。
        nice try: 通常用在你想要做一件事，或者说一段话，但是效果适得其反，对方就会说nice try, 意思是虽然结果是失败了，但是感谢你的尝试。

        debut: A first public appearance, as of a performer. 注意这个单词是法语过来的，所以不能用英文的发音规则来念。

        Jack: Your bush league attempts to take me down…they're getting boring .Although, I must admit, having the freshman class of Brearley hold their annual sleepover in my hotel room that was a nice touch.
        bush league: also see bushleague. 1. Below good standards, not good or incorrect. 2. Amateur performance. Behavior that doesn't belong in the major leagues.
        Brearley: The Brearley School is an all-girls' private school, which is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City. It is considered as one of the most prestigious schools for girls in the United States.

        Jack: By the way, don't be alarmed, but, uh, our stock might take a little dip today. I'm still adjusting to a learning curve.
        Chuck: No, what you're doing is trying too hard. You're obviously not cut out for the job, which is why Bart never let you out of the outback.

        Dan: No, I was gonna say "young." You could pass for a student.
        I wasn't expecting: 我没有想到，没有料到，不用think, 而是用expect. 另外我们中文有时候说“我没有想到你会来”，英文也用I didn’t expect to see you.
        out of place: of an inappropriate or misapplied nature
        pass for: to be accepted as or believed to be

        fit in: 适应。这个单词可以用在你到了一个新的场合，工作，学校，社会，你说和别人是否合得来，是否能融入这个环境，就用这个fit in.
        get to: To influence or affect, especially adversely. e.g. The noise really gets to me.

        high:这是一个很容易被误用的单词，虽然中文里我们常说“昨天玩的很high”，用high来表示cheerful, exciting之类的意思，但是在口语中，其实high是表示under the influence of alcohol or drugs，指的是因为喝酒、吸毒而使人很兴奋。

        I'm getting the hang of it: 熟能生巧，to succeed in learning how to do something after practicing it. e.g. After three weeks of using this computer I think I've finally got the hang of it.
