英语书写中数字的规范写法

　　在日常生活中，数字并不仅仅出现在数学问题中，它也存在于我们的英语书写里。正如英语有其标准的语法那样，数字在英语中也有相应的写法规范。以下几种情况特别值得注意。
        　　一、需要完全把数字用英语完全拼写出来的情况：
        　　1.10以下的数字。
        　　Martin has two younger sisters and five older brothers.
        　　2.位于句子开头的数字。
        　　Sixty children came to the class trip last year, but this year there were
80.
        　　3. 作为主语、宾语、定语、表语、同位语。
        　　The two happily opened the box.(作主语)
        　　I need six altogether.(作宾语)
        　　She has nine dictionaries.(作定语)
        　　We are five.(作表语)
        　　They three tried to finish the task before sunset.(作同位语)
        　　4.作为分数的数字(通常用连字符连接)。
        　　About one-third of the class comes from China.
        　　注：除非是位于句首，否则繁分数则一般可以照常用数字形式表示。
        　　例：The recipe calls for 1 ½ cup of nuts.

        　　二、需要用数字形式表示的情况：
        　　1. 数字10及比10大的数字。
        　　She has bought about 10 pairs of shoes and 15 dresses in the last three
months.
        　　注：如果数字并列出现，那么无论数字是否小于10，最好能保持一致。
        　　例：正：She has four brothers aged 5, 7 ,12, and 15.
        　　误：She has four brothers aged five, seven, 12, and 15.
        　　2. 表示日期与年份的数字。
        　　School begins on August 27, 2012.
        　　注：一般在写包含完整年月日的日期时不用序数词1st , 2nd, 3rd等。
        　　例：正：The play was on April 1, 2012.
        　　误：The play was on April 1st, 2012.
        　　3. 表示百分比的数字。
        　　According to the latest survey there are 52% of teachers who live in the
city.
        　　注：若表示百分比的数字出现在句首则要将其拼写出来。
        　　例：Fifty and one-half percent of students walk to school.
        　　4. 表示小数的数字。
        　　There was 0.73 inches of rain last month.

        　　三、两种写法皆可的情况：
        　　1. 表示“几十年代”的数字。
        　　She lived in San Francisco in the eighties.
        　　During the 1980s she lived in San Francisco.
        　　She lived in San Francisco in the '80s.
        　　2. 表示时间的数字。
        　　(1) 后面跟有o'clock或者后面没有a.m.或p.m.时，一般需要将其拼写出来。
        　　例：正：We have to get up at six o'clock to be on time for school.
        　　正：She gets home around eight in the evening.
        　　误：We have to get up at 6 o'clock to be on time for school.
        　　(2) 需要强调确切的时间和后面跟有a.m.或p.m.时，一般写成数字形式。
        　　例：The accident happened at 8:22 p.m. last night.
        　　They did not leave the party until 2 a.m.
        　　(3)一般情况下用“noon”和“midnight”来表示“正午”和“午夜”而不直接写作“12:00 a.m.”和“12:00 p.m.”。
        　　例：We came home around midnight and slept until noon the next day.
        　　3. 表示数目比较大的数字。
        　　(1)如果数目简单，通常要拼写出来。
        　　例：Can you loan me twenty thousand dollars?
        　　He earned two million dollars last year. 或He earned $2 million dollars last
year.
        　　(2)如果数目复杂，通常用数字形式直接表示。
        　　例：He helped the company earn $5, 385, 673 last year.
