In my observation, everyone who has a financially successful career goes
through the following three stages:
据我观察，每个事业成功的富豪都会经历以下三个阶段：
1. Self-awareness
自我认知
Most people do not know what they want to do with their lives or even what
kind of activity makes them happy. You ask these people, "What's your dream
job?" and they reply, "I dunno..."
绝大多数人不知道他们愿意终生从事的职业，甚至不知道什么活动能让他们自己高兴。如果你问这些人“你的理想工作是什么?”，他们会回答：“我不知道……”
So the first stage of any successful career is knowing enough about
yourself to know what you ought to be doing with yourself.
所以任何成功事业的第一步都是对自己有足够的认知，并了解为了达到这个目的自己得做些什么。
2. Monetization
赚钱
Most people get stages one and two backwards. They take a job (or a major
in college) with the intent of making money and then wonder why they're not
enjoying themselves.
绝大多数人做不对第一步和第二步。他们怀抱着赚钱的理想去做一份工作(或在大学中学一个专业)，然后他们开始反省为什么自己工作或学习的时候不快乐。
The recipe for success entails first finding out what you want to do and
only then figuring out how to get customers to pay you money to do it.
成功的秘诀在于你得先找到自己真正想做的事情，然后再去想办法弄清楚如何才能让别人乐于为之买单。
3. Expansion
扩张
Now that you know what type of work makes you happy and you've gotten
people to pay you money to do it, you expand your ability to do what makes you
happy by reaching more customers.
现在你知道从事哪种工作让你高兴，也成功地让别人愿意为之掏荷包。那么接下来你就需要开发潜能吸引更多的顾客，让你更加高兴。
More money.More happiness. It's that simple.
钱越多，你越高兴。就这么简单。
Probably one in 100 people "get" the process I've laid out above. I'll bet
you're one of them or you wouldn't be reading this article.
我以上列举的成功步骤，可能只有百分之一的人“经历”过。我打赌你就是那百分之一，否则你也不会看这篇文章。
