　　A Valediction Forbidding Mourning离别辞：莫悲伤
        　　作为玄学派大师，Donne走的是一条以形象比喻传达思想，通过思想表达感情的新路。《离别辞：莫悲伤》是1611年作者随罗伯特·特鲁里爵士出使巴黎时，在临行前赠给妻子的诗。在这首诗中，Donne把夫妻关系喻为圆规两只脚的关系。妻子是定脚，坐镇中心，当丈夫离别(即一只脚移动)时，妻子(定脚)也随之转动，喻夫妻虽然分离，却彼此相连，互相支撑。只有妻子(定脚)坚定地坐镇中心，才“能使我的圆圈圆得完美”，暗示爱人的忠贞不渝才能使他一生美满。该诗赞颂了恋人之间更深层次的精神之爱，不因分离而受到破坏。
        　　As virtuous men pass mildly away,
        　　And whisper to their souls to go,
        　　Whilst some of their sad friends do say,
        　　The breath goes now, and some say no;
        　　正如有德行的人安详别世，

        　　悲伤的友人或伤逝，
