这首歌的曲子Paul大概15岁的时候就有了，那个时候还有了Vera Chuck & Dave那几行歌词。 Paul是在自己家里的钢琴上创作的，他认为曲子的风格类似那种在酒店里的歌舞表演。 很多年以后，Paul才把词给添上。 当时正逢他爸爸Jim的64岁生日。 年轻的Paul当时说，他不能想象自己也会变得这么老。但几年前，Paul也64岁了……
爱情不是牧歌，不是在茫茫尘世牧放无穷忧伤和回忆的牧歌。爱情不是挽歌，不是凭吊连同青春一起死去的爱情的挽歌。爱情，是一首开始时只是无字的歌，而随着岁月的逝去，相爱的人渐渐老去，就会唱出词的歌。是下面这首歌。它等我们六十四岁的时候，来一起合唱。
