If scientists can change its genetic makeup, the mosquito's immune system could repel the organism. Meanwhile, the clock is ticking as the malaria parasite becomes immune to the world's front-line drug against the disease.另一线希望是操纵蚊子的基因。现在，疟蚊对疟疾寄生虫没有抵抗能力。如果科学家可以改变它的基因组合，这些蚊子的免疫系统可以排斥这些寄生虫。
同时，疟疾寄生虫对于国际一线抗疟疾药物产生免疫作用使得人们（研发出代替的治疗措施）刻不容缓。
