09月16日：If Tom cannot keep his promise, he'll lose face.如果汤姆不能信守诺言，他就会丢面子。
1.lose face：丢脸，失面子
例如：His careless work made him lose face with his teacher.（他工作疏忽使他在老师面前丢脸。）
He tried to conceal his mistake so as not to lose face.（他知道他错了，但怕丢面子而不敢承认。）
09月17日：That'll put us both in the picture.这样双方都能了解全面的情况。
1.put sb. in the picture：把情况告诉某人，使某人了解情况
例如：Mr. Geoffrey, could you put us in the picture?（杰弗里先生，请您把情况告诉我们好吗？）
Can you put me in the picture about the World Cup Football Match?（你能给我讲讲关于世界杯足球赛的状况吗？）
09月18日：I can't say for certain offhand.我还不能马上说定。
1.offhand： adv. 即时地，即席地
例如：Offhand I can't make a clear explanation.（一下子我还不能解释清楚。）
It is too great a thing for me to decide offhand.（这件事太重大了，不是仓猝之间就能决定的。）
09月19日：Wait a moment, I'll be with you in an instant.等一下，我立刻就来。
1.in an instant：立即，马上，须臾之间
例如：I'll be with you in an instant.（我立时就来。）
The scene vanished in an instant.（那景色顷刻之间便消失了。）
09月20日：I'm full of admiration for you.我对你满怀钦佩之情。
1.full of：充满
例如：He is a man full of adventure.（他是一个充满冒险精神的人。）
Her voice was full of fierce regret.（她的声调充满了深深的惋惜。）
09月21日：Their past statements cling to one premise: cutting debt helps growth.他们此前的陈述都抓住一个前提：减少负债会帮助经济增长。
1.cling to：挨着；紧抓；保留；坚持
例如：It is dangerous to cling to outdated ideas and theories.（坚持过时的观点和理论是很危险的。）

09月22日：She mended the broken doll.她修好了那个坏掉的娃娃。
1.mend：修理，修补；改善，改进
例如：He sent for someone to mend the broken window.（他叫人来修补破窗子。）
He was determined to mend his ways and turn over new leaf.（他决心改过自新，重新做人。）
