希拉里克林顿宣布参加美国16年大选。BBC 新闻解读:1. 参选 2.优劣分析 3. 个人履历 双语解读,四六级及专四难度,5分钟快速阅读。
Former US Secretary of State(国务卿)Hillary Clinton has formally entered the
2016 race for the White House in a bidto become the first woman US
president.
She launchedher campaign (竞选活动)website on Sunday, telling Americans she
wanted to be their"champion".
Mrs Clinton ran for the Democratic presidential nomination(提名) in 2008 but
lost to Barack Obama.
The overwhelming Democratic favorite, she had been expected to declare
hercandidacy for months.
In a video on her website, Mrs Clinton declared: "I am running
forpresident".
"Americans have fought their way back from tough economic times,"she said,
"but the deck(板子) is still stacked (堆积)in favour of those at the
top.(意即上层阶级依然是利益最大化者)
"Everyday Americans need a champion and I want to be thatchampion," she
added.
The video features a number of Americans talking about their hopes
andaspirations.
It ends with Mrs Clinton saying: "So I'm hitting the road to earn yourvote
because it's your time and I hope you'll join me on this journey".
Mrs Clinton's team said would spend the next few weeks building
upgrassroots(基层/民间)support in the early Democraticprimary states; she tweeted
that she is on her way to Iowa.
She is expected to hold her first rally(集会),officially kicking off(开始) her
campaign, in mid-May.
分析指出:
The launch of Hillary Clinton's campaign for the presidency was meant to
below key(原本打算较为低调).
It was meant to reflect the idea that it was all about ordinary
Americansand the everyday concerns of the middle
class(原本计划反映普通美国人和中产阶级关心的问题).
But whether she likes it or not, Mrs Clinton is a huge name in politics
andreinventing herself as the embodiment of change won't be
easy(将自己重塑为改变的象征不易).
True, she is unlikely to face any stiff competition from her own side
forthe nomination(民主党内部没有对手), but Republicans have been unrelenting (冷酷的)in
their attacks on her and that will only increase.
She will also have to find a convincing vision (有说服力的视角)for America that
will capture the imagination of the voters.
Elections are usually about the future and Mrs. Clinton has to prove
thatshe's not all about the past.
