forty or so years of work, they grab tens and even hundreds of millions of

【析句】复合句。主句they grab tens and even hundreds of millions of dollars,
主句后是as引导的时间状语从句as they sell the company for their own profit, 因为the
company后有定语从句they may been with for only a few years，所以把the company放在了目的状语for
theri own profit的后面。
2. Their selfishness is most shamelessly expressed in downsizing and
outsourcing because these business maneuvers don’t act to create new jobs as the
founders of new industries used to do, but only to cut out jobs while keeping
the money value of what those jobs produced for themselves. (2006. 阅读. 12. Text

out，由but连接两部份。but前的原因状语从句后有as引导的时间状语从句，but后的部份but only to cut out
jobs后也有while引导的时间状语从句，并且时间状语从句中，what those jobs produced for
themselves作of的宾语从句。

free enterprise system altogether and the government which governs only the rest
