之前两篇文章我们介绍了元音之间连读的两种情况：
用/j/连读元音
用/w/连读元音
本文我们接着学习元音间连读的第三种情况：
Linking the vowels with a slight /r/ sound
用轻微的/r/连读元音
当前后两个单词的末、首音节分别都是元音，而且前面的元音是/a:/, /ɔ:/, /ɜ:/或/ə/结尾的（比如 /ə/, /uə/, /eə/, /ɪə/等），在后面单词的元音前面加一个微弱的/r/音，把两个词连接起来。比如，far away和for us。
这里用于连读的/r/的发音比在单词中音节起始处的/r/要轻微的多，舌头只是轻快地弹一下。比如get rid of, hear it两处的/r/是有明显差别的，应用的时候要注意区分。
其实在中文里也有这种r的连读哦，在带了儿化音的字后面就会出现了。比如“去哪儿啊？”会在啊的前面加个r的音，大家想想看，有木有？

【情景对话】
It's four o'clock in the afternoon. John is showing Mary around the company.
John: Here is the meeting room.
Mary: Is this where I had my interview?
John: Could be.
Mary: And…where is the toilet?
John: That door over there leads to the ladies’.
four o'clock /ˌfɔː rəˈklɒk/
here is /ˈhɪə rɪz/
where I /weə raɪ/
where is /ˈweə rɪz/
door over /ˈdɔ: rəʊvə/

2. Now you all know why I’ve called this meeting. Sales figures for our region are down. We need to address this as soon as we can.
3. But do you know why? Do the customers say why they don’t like our offers? I personally feel that this is vital information.
4. Our products are competitive… So they’re not getting better offers from the competition? I don’t think so.
