《夜巡》是17世纪荷兰画家伦勃朗的名画。现藏于荷兰阿姆斯特丹美术馆。此画所描绘的其实是白天队长与副队长的景象，因光线昏暗而被误为是描绘夜间，画中人物确有其人，有些人认为此画暗藏某些故事另有深意。

The Night Watch remained in the Great Hall for over 70 years. But then it was moved to the new Amsterdam Town Hall, now a Royal Palace. There was perpetrated one of the most extraordinary acts of official vandalism in the history of Dutch painting. Rembrandt's masterpiece was too big for its allotted space and so, like a piece of wallpaper. It was simply trimmed to fit.
It is the most important painting, but it's interesting to see that when it was moved to in 1715, and had to hang between two doors. The city wasn't too afraid just to take the scissors and cut part off it.
Yet thanks to Banning Cocq's vanity in ordering a copy of the painting, it's possible to see what Rembrandt's original composition lost in the butchery. The top of the arch is missing from The Night Watch we see today.“夜巡”在大厅中挂了70多年，但后来被移至新建的阿姆斯特丹市政厅，也就是现在的荷兰皇宫。政府官员在那里做出荷兰绘画史上最骇人的破坏之举。原本预订的空间无法悬挂林布阑的杰作，于是“夜巡”像壁纸般的惨遭裁剪。
它的确是一幅重要画作，但有趣的是1715年“夜巡”被移至市政厅，悬挂在两扇门之间时，市议会却毫不犹豫地裁掉了一部分，还好虚荣的班宁柯可早先委制了一幅临摹之作，我们才得以欣赏林布阑原作的构图。我们今天看到的“夜巡”中拱顶的上班不已经不见了。 |
