《基督复活》作为世界上最伟大的艺术品之一，他的命运却是多桀的，这幅壁画曾被不欣赏他的人粉刷掉，后被人修复后才得以重见人世。后在二战时，盟军曾轰炸其所在的圣塞波克罗市，但幸运的是当时盟军的指挥官记起他所读过的一本书中提到在此市中有世界上最伟大的艺术品，便立即命令停止轰炸，《基督复活》又逃过一劫。这或许是天意――基督，总会复活。

Having survived the war unscathed The Resurrection's reputation continued to grow and modern day artists have manipulated the image for their own work. Castle Bernau stands in a small village in Upper Austria. In the 1990s Anton Krainc, was invited to fresco the walls of the Baptism Chapel. His admiration for the great painting was influential in his design for what he calls The Resurrection Wall.
When I started to think of what I will paint on this wall, I had all kinds of resurrections in mind. There are resurrections that have very incredible scenes of Christ exploding into the sky. Piero didn't need that, for me that's more credible, that's why I chose to use his image as a homage in my resurrection. I chose also not to paint Christ, because frankly I couldn't do it any better than Piero. So I chose the scene of finding the empty grave, where light comes out of this empty grave.
