Merciless hunting and killing of wild animals have caused great concern in the international community.
There are several reasons why this situation remains unsolved. Profit seems to be main cause. Greedy people wish to become rich through the trade of rare animals. As a result, today the trade of elephant ivory is even more lucrative than it was a decad ago, due to the fact that there are even fewer elephants on this planet. Another factor causing this unfortunate situation is people's lack of eco-awareness. Even though it is commonly believed that wild animals are humans'friends and should be preserved by us, when the time comes for us to choose between human interests and animal well-being, animals always lose out. Development of human society seems to override any other tasks, including the preservation of the environment that wild animals rely on.残忍猎杀野生动物的现象已经在国际社会上引起了大量关注。
造成这种状况仍未得到解决的原因有几个。而利益似乎是其中的主要原因。贪婪的人们希望通过稀有动物贸易来致富。例如，这个星球上大象的数量变少反而使现在的象牙贸易比十年前更加有利可图了。导致这种不幸状况产生的另一个原因是人们缺乏生态意识。即使人们普遍认为野生动物是人类的朋友，它们应该得到保护，但当需要在人类利益和动物福利之间进行选择时，动物却总是输的一方。人类社会的发展似乎重于其他任何任务，包括野生动物赖以生存的环境。
