Once upon a time, global business and trade was a matter of ports, trucks and containerships. These days, it's increasingly a question of patents, trademarks and copyright. And in no sector is the issue of copyright more fraught with debate and disagreement than the music industry. On one side are songwriters, musicians and artists,  who say piracy is bleeding the industry to death: The Internet has already destroyed the original business model of record companies. On the other side are those who argue that copyright laws as they stand are outdated and inappropriate in a digital age. Well, we brought the two sides together. Amelia Andersdotter represents the Swedish Pirate Party in the European Parliament. Robert Ashcroft is chief executive of the Performing Rights Society, which is the UK's association of composers, songwriters and music publishers. I started by asking Amelia how she thought musicians should make money out of their creations.
"We have a lot of live music now. Live music is coming up. And actually, if you look at revenues in the recording industry, also they are going up. There would have been and could have been a lot of business models developing on the Internet that haven't developed well for musicians, because often collecting societies or recording labels have kept them back.
